Jayishni Maharaj

Senior Researcher and Lecturer, Australian Centre for Precision Health and Technologies (PRECISE), Griffith University

Dr Jayishni Maharaj is a Lecturer in Biomechanics in the School of Allied Health, Sport and Social Work and a Researcher within the Australian Centre for Precision Health and Technologies (PRECISE) at Griffith University. Drawing on over a decade of combined clinical and research experience, her work bridges biomechanics, digital technology and healthcare to improve outcomes for people with chronic foot and ankle conditions.

Dr Maharaj leads an interdisciplinary program using advanced motion analysis, imaging, computational modelling, and wearable sensors to understand tissue loading, predict ulcer risk, and guide personalised prevention and rehabilitation in diabetes.

Working closely with clinicians, engineers, and industry, she is translating precision biomechanics into real-world health solutions. Her vision is to develop and integrate technologies into clinical care to help prevent diabetes-related amputations. Dr Maharaj is passionate about mentoring emerging researchers and welcomes students interested in biomechanics, digital health, and precision rehabilitation.
