Australian Universities face sustained budget pressure while continuing to invest in core enterprise platforms. In this environment, CIOs must demonstrate efficiency gains without compromising the reliability or credibility of institutional intelligence. As discretionary funding tightens, expanding the technology stack or outsourcing analytics work has become increasingly difficult to justify.

This session presents a case study from La Trobe University, where an existing enterprise survey platform, QuestionPro, was deliberately repurposed to support operational decision making without additional platform investment. Instead of introducing new point solutions, La Trobe adopted a consolidation strategy, positioning QuestionPro as shared institutional infrastructure—centrally governed and reused across multiple business contexts.

A key enabler was an insourcing model that brought survey design, data quality management, and reporting capability in‑house, reducing vendor reliance and improving methodological consistency. The session also demonstrates how the platform was extended beyond experience surveys to support rapid feedback, service diagnostics, and time‑sensitive decision support. Attendees will gain a practical, low‑cost model for maximising value from existing survey platforms.
