Workshop: Aligning Enterprise IT with National Research Infrastructure

Mar 30 2026, 00:30 - 10:00 (Melbourne/Sydney time)

This three-hour expert-led session, facilitated by the Australasian eResearch Organisations (AeRO), focuses on the intersection of institutional IT and national research capabilities. Tailored specifically for IT professionals supporting research domains (including Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Enterprise Architects, and IT Directors) the session provides a strategic and operational overview of the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) and an opportunity for technical and management staff to gain expert-led insights, understand emerging architectural patterns in this Domain, and refine service delivery models for research projects.

Attendees will hear from representatives from NCRIS capabilities including Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), National Computational Infrastructure or Pawsey, and the National Imaging Facility (NIF) regarding current national capabilities, funding updates, and the established integration pathways for university IT environments. In addition to this national overview, the session will feature technical examinations of active, sector-leading initiatives. Presentations will unpack the architecture and operational models of the Australian Imaging Service (a joint initiative between NIF and the University of Sydney) and the UNSW Research Data Experience Program.
