Universities are facing a fundamental shift in how they manage data. The rapid growth of Microsoft 365, combined with increasing adoption of AI and Copilot, has created an environment where data is no longer just an asset—it is also a risk, a cost centre, and the foundation for future innovation.
In this session, AvePoint and Griffith University explore the emerging challenges of unstructured data governance and how institutions can take back control without slowing down users. As collaboration tools have evolved—from email to content, to chat, and now AI—so too have the demands on governance, visibility, and lifecycle management. Yet many universities are still grappling with exponential data growth, unclear ownership, and increasing regulatory pressure.
Through a real-world perspective, Griffith will share its journey from reactive data management to a more structured, intelligence-driven approach. This includes tackling redundant and outdated data, improving visibility across complex environments, and making more informed decisions about retention, security, and cost.
