Senior Research Technologies Officer, CQUniversity
Jason Bell is the Senior Research Technologies Officer at CQUniversity Australia and an eResearch Analyst with QCIF Digital Research. His work focuses on helping CQUniversity researchers achieve better research outcomes through effective use of technology.
With more than two decades of experience in the research technology sector, Jason supports the university’s research community by managing High Performance Computing infrastructure, research data storage and data management systems. He also assists researchers in adopting eResearch tools and services and delivers digital skills training locally and nationally, including teaching Software Carpentry workshops.
While completing his Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) at CQUniversity externally, Jason also completed his Engineering Mechanical Trade in a Central Queensland coal mine, specialising as a Diesel Fitter for heavy earth moving equipment. His interests span video collaboration platforms, programming, nonlinear optimisation, artificial intelligence, evolutionary algorithms, High Performance Computing, system administration, distributed and parallel computing, networking and robotics.
